Retrofitting Surburia: From Public Housing to Urban Farm

A proposition for a new paradigm for eco-centric lifestyles, focusing of the practicality, convenience, and affordability for families. The discussion begins with a look at the current environmental condition of the world which introduces the proposed Thomasville Urban Farm, and using this site as a place to reduce carbon emissions related to lifestyle choice as related to food miles, redundant water consumption for agricultural purposes, fossil fuel fertilizer sources, waste, commuting as well ass dining and entertainment. The secondary objective is to provide high performance affordable housing as well as references to suburban living that would address the market needs for buyers with families.
